Children are the lifeblood and a primary focus of First Presbyterian Church.

There is a running joke in the congregation that people count the seconds from when an infant first cries or fusses, until Dr. Lindsey takes the child into his arms. Yet, what a wonderful image of this Church...

We each come seeking to be cared for and comforted, to be held up before God in prayer, to be cradled in the bosom of Abraham, and here at First Presbyterian, we are!
As you walk in, adjacent to the Sanctuary/Gathering Space, the Church has a bright, clean Nursery, with spaces for infants and for toddlers in adjacent age appropriate rooms, carefully watched over by a willing group of loving volunteers. Children attend worship each week, learning the order of Reformed worship, taking in the singing of the Doxology and Gloria Patri, giving their offerings to God and sharing in the Lord's Prayer.
Then the children have their time with their pastor, who offers an inspiring and fun Children's Sermon, often interrupted by someone's announcement that she has new sneakers, or a question about God. There are classes for every grade during the sermon, though some prefer to stay.

Young Children in Worship - A delightful and innovative program for Children, encourages the young believers to gather in a circle, where we tell the Biblical stories and act out the story with boxes of wooden figures, recognizing that if a child can tell the Story (whether they can read or not) they know the story.
