What is Spiritual Nurture?

Spiritual Nurture includes three areas: DISCIPLESHIP, PRAYER, AND WORSHIP. At First Presbyterian, we strive to grow in each of these areas so that our church may be a place that nurtures all of our spirits in many and assorted ways.

DISCIPLESHIP--The word disciple literally means “student” or “learner.” To be Christ’s disciple we must learn to be like him in order to follow his example. Educational opportunities to learn about God's love and how faith can make a difference in your life are offered in many ways such as the Sunday's sermon, educational classes for all ages, weekly Bible studies, forums, teaching programs at the Men’s Breakfast, Women’s Circles, Lenten Suppers and more.

PRAYER—A strong prayer life feeds our spirit and nurtures us beyond measure. Through prayer we develop a strong relationship with the Lord and find both comfort and guidance in our daily living. Please see the link above to the "Pray, Worship, Grow" page for ideas on how to develop your own prayer life.

WORSHIP—Scripture tells us that our whole being should be offered to God as an act of worship. The Sunday morning worship serviceis an excellent starting place to offer ourselves in worship to God, to share in the fellowship of the Body of Christ, and to have our souls fed through the words of the Pastor. Worship also includes the way we honor God in living our lives, as we put our faith into practice and strive to grow into Christ’s image. Every service becomes an act of worship when we do it all for the glory of God.

We invite you to come be a part of our church and nurture YOUR spirit!
